Today let us know about duty of a police officer-in-charge of a police station if he does not lodge an FIR ?
IT IS PROVIDED IN SECTION 166B (c) of Indian penal code(IPC) that whoever, being a public servent.
fails to record any information given to him under sub-section (1) of section 154 of Cr.p.c. (which provides us to lodge an FIR of an offence in police station) and specially offences relating to women like,
in above cases if police officer/public servent does not lodge an FIR he will be punished with rigours imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than six months but which may extend to 2 years and shall also be liable to fine.
now we talk about the procedure against such public servent/police officer who fails to comply his duty..........
you will have to file a complaint before a magistrate with previous sanction of state government (District Magistrate). this standard procedure is laid down in Section 197 of Criminal Procedure Code-1973.
so frnds its ur right to lodge an FIR of an offence. If police officer does not lodge an FIR you may file a complaint against him.

- Acid attack (punishable under sec. 326-A of IPC),
- Attempt to acid attack (punishable under sec 326-B of IPC ),
- Assult or criminal force to women with intent to outrage her modesty (punishable under sec 354 of IPC),
- Sexual harassment (punishable under sec 354-A of IPC)
- Assult or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe/removing clothes (punishable under sec 354-B of IPC),
- Human Trafficking (punishable under sec 370 of IPC)
- Exploitation of a trafficked person (punishable under sec 370-A of IPC)
- Rape (punishable under sec 376 of IPC)
- Rape with causing death or resulting in persistent vegetative state of victim (punishable under sec 376-A of IPC)
- Sexual intercourse by Husband upon his wife during seperation (punishable under sec 376-B of IPC)
- SEXUAL INTERCOURSE by a person in authority (punishable under sec 376-C of IPC)
- GANG RAPE (punishable under sec 376-D of ipc)
- Repeat offenders of Rape (punishable under sec 376-E of IPC)
- Words, Gestures or Acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman (punishable under sec 509 of ipc)
